Cockermouth by Candlelight - concept of the competition
Cockermouth by Candlelight is a new Christmas event for families across Cumbria. It will be held on 8 December when Cockermouth is looking particularly beautiful with its Christmas lights twinkling on the streets of the main shopping areas.
The independent shops will display a Georgian-style lantern outside their shops and there will be a children’s lantern parade led by Father Christmas and joined by beautiful choirs and brass bands playing Christmas carols.
There will be many other things going on in and around the shops, such as storytelling and ghost walks, roasted nuts, mulled wine and music in the bars and restaurants.
